John Otway

John Otway is an English singer-songwriter known for his cult following, eccentric humour, and underdog persona. Inspired by Bob Dylan as a child, he pursued music with passion, but it wasn't until a chaotic 1977 TV performance that he gained national attention. His single Cor Baby That’s Really Free reached No. 27 in the UK charts, earning him a spot on Top of the Pops. After years of performing, writing, and acting, Otway achieved a second hit in 2002 with Bunsen Burner. He later released a documentary film, Otway the Movie, and recorded an album in Montserrat. In the 2020s, he entertained fans with live-streamed shows, celebrated his 5,000th gig, earned an honorary doctorate, and released a live album, The Set Remains The Same, showcasing his enduring appeal across decades and stages.
