Trained at the prestigious Mountview Academy, Jean began her career in London's West End, going
from College straight into productions such as The Beautiful Game, Witches of Eastwick and Les
Misérables. During that time, Jean worked with luminaries such as Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, Sir Ben
Elton, Ian McShane, Sir Cameron Mackintosh, Sir Trevor Nunn and even appeared onstage alongside
Dame Judi Dench.
In recent years Jean, has moved back to Limerick and has developed her performance career
alongside her work as a well-known teacher of the arts. She co-directed Bare Space Theatre Co. for a
number of years, and has begun to make performance work as a producer and director. Jean's sell-
out production of her one-woman show Lily at the Belltable was followed by the hugely successful
Cabaret des Frites at the Spiegeltent in 2014 and 2015.
With a new show that she describes as one of most challenging of her career, Jean McGlynn is back
with her latest spectacle – Songs in Suits. Working in collaboration with musical director Noel
Lennon, the show will see Jean give her own unique female twist to a range of songs made famous
by men down through the years.
Songs in Suits will see McGlynn take to Dolans Warehouse with a production that includes her
trademark cabaret style, complete with costumes, choreography and a five-piece band. This unique
performance will cover styles to suit all tastes, with music by performers such as Leonard Cohen,
David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, Frank Sinatra, and Fred Astaire. It's one not to be missed.
